Canadian Parliamentary Delegation Visits TACC to Strengthen Taiwan–Canada Collaboration in Cybersecurity Research
On July 8, the Taiwan Academic Cyber Security Center (TACC) welcomed a delegation of Canadian parliamentary staff members for an exchange on cybersecurity research, artificial intelligence (AI), critical infrastructure protection, and international research collaboration. The meeting was hosted by Professor Hsu-Chun Hsiao and Professor Chun-Jui Lin, who introduced Taiwan's latest developments in cybersecurity research and innovation.
During the meeting, TACC presented the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC)-supported program that integrates nine university-based cybersecurity research centers across Taiwan. The discussion highlighted research initiatives in AI, zero trust architecture, post-quantum cryptography, supply chain security, and AI-native cybersecurity, as well as TACC's efforts in promoting international collaboration, talent development, and academia–industry partnerships.
The Canadian delegation expressed strong interest in Taiwan's experience in addressing cyber threats, protecting critical infrastructure, and enhancing cyber resilience. Both sides exchanged views on a wide range of topics, including open-source software security, AI governance, privacy-enhancing technologies, intellectual property management, and research commercialization. They also discussed opportunities to strengthen future cooperation through researcher exchanges, joint research projects, and broader academic collaboration.
The visit further enhanced mutual understanding of Taiwan's and Canada's research ecosystems and cybersecurity strategies, laying a solid foundation for future collaboration in AI and cybersecurity.
