French Office in Taipei Visits TACC to Strengthen Taiwan–France Cybersecurity Research and Talent Exchange
On February 11, 2026, representatives from the French Office in Taipei, Academic Cooperation Officer Airy Quillere and Leo Gaillard, visited TACC to discuss Taiwan–France collaboration in cybersecurity research, industry–academia exchange, and talent development. The meeting aimed to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in the cybersecurity field.
TACC, a cybersecurity research initiative supported by Taiwan’s National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), focuses on advancing cutting-edge cybersecurity technologies while expanding international collaboration. Taiwan and France have already initiated joint research projects in this area. One such project is co-led by Prof. Marion from France and Dr. Meng-Chang Chen of Academia Sinica, supported by the Orchid Program, demonstrating the growing research partnership between the two countries in cybersecurity.
Regarding research positioning, TACC representatives noted that, compared with institutions such as the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) and the Institute for Information Industry (III)—which focus on short- to mid-term technology deployment and industrial applications—TACC primarily concentrates on long-term, forward-looking cybersecurity research over a five- to ten-year horizon. Through forums and industry engagement activities, TACC also facilitates dialogue between academia and industry, helping align research directions with emerging industrial needs.
In terms of talent development, the French delegation suggested exploring future joint summer training programs and exchange initiatives to encourage visits and collaboration between young researchers and students from both countries. The visit marks an important step toward building closer Taiwan–France partnerships in cybersecurity research and talent cultivation.
