Academia Sinica and France’s LORIA (Lorraine Research Laboratory in Computer Science and its Applications) jointly submitted a proposal and received funding support from the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) under the “2026 Taiwan–France ORCHID Program Bilateral Workshop.”

To deepen substantive collaboration between Taiwan and France in the research areas of cybersecurity and generative synthetic attack patterns, the Academia Sinica team has been actively promoting the establishment of bilateral academic exchange and cooperation mechanisms. First, on the coordination and liaison front, the team has successfully established a stable and direct communication channel with the French principal investigator, Professor Jean-Yves Marion (University of Lorraine). Through multiple online meetings and email correspondence, both parties have engaged in in-depth discussions regarding the overall agenda framework, key research themes, and critical technical issues for the upcoming workshop, and have reached preliminary consensus, laying a solid foundation for subsequent collaboration.

Regarding the planning of concrete exchange activities, both sides plan to jointly organize the “Taiwan–France Bilateral Workshop on Generative Synthetic Attack Patterns” in October 2026. The workshop will invite French scholars to visit Taiwan for academic exchanges and research outcome sharing, while also fostering diverse collaborations across disciplines and institutions. The workshop will focus on generative synthetic attack pattern analysis, cybersecurity defense strategies, and emerging threat trends, with the aim of integrating research strengths from both sides, expanding international collaboration networks, and enhancing Taiwan’s international visibility in related fields.

Notably, the proposed project titled “The Taiwan–France Joint Workshop on Synthetic Attack Patterns Generation” has been officially approved by the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) and has been included as a funded project under the “2026 Taiwan–France ORCHID Program Bilateral Workshop” scheme. This achievement not only demonstrates the academic value and forward-looking nature of the project, but also opens up a more concrete and long-term opportunity for the development of Taiwan–France bilateral collaboration.
